Letter from Mayor Kimberly Driscoll Announcing the McGlew Park upgrade project.

In a January 11th letter, Mayor Kimberly Driscoll notified Ward 6 Councillor Beth Gerard, Salem’s Park & Recreation Commission, the McGlew Park Working Group, and the Mack Park and Northfields Neighborhood Associations, that the City would be undertaking an upgrade of McGlew Park.

CPA funding has been allocated to prepare a conceptual design with goal of securing a PARC (State Parklands Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities) grant for additional funding.

Meetings will be announced and held in the near future with neighbors and park users to develop a vision for the park’s renovation.

The City has retained Tighe and Bond, a licensed site professional (LSP), to test soils for suitability. The LSP will be onsite on January 22nd, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm to collect samples, by drilling 10 borings at depths between 5 and 15 feet.

Questions or concerns about the McGlew Park Project should be directed to Amanda Chiancola in the Salem Planning Department: 978-619-5685, achiancola@salem.com.
